September 2026 ~ Hyundai Hope on Wheels
Childhood Cancer Community was honored to be invited by Mayo Clinic Children's to attend and participate in the Hyundai Hope On Wheels presentation of a $400,000 Scholar Hope Grant to Mayo Clinic's Dr Kelly Bailey and her investigators, Drs. Roman Kowalchuk and Mukesh Pandey. This two-year translational research grant funds targeted medical investigations to improve treatments and outcomes for young cancer patients.
This donation contributes to Hyundai Hope on Wheels passing a lifetime milestone of over $303 million given toward pediatric cancer research nationwide since 1998. (Click here to see event highlights.)
After the grant presentation ceremony, doctors, patients, and families participated in the program's signature handprint ceremony, dipping their hands in paint and pressing them onto a Hyundai Palisade to honor children fighting cancer. Several of Childhood Cancer Community's patients, and their families, placed their special handprints on the Hyundai.
Thank you also to Andrew Dahl, President and Chief Executive Officer of Dahl Automotive, as well as representatives of Dahl Hyundai Rochester for joining and making the event so successful.
But in the end, and when all of the ceremonies were complete, the stark reality is that the children, who are (or have) battled childhood cancer, are the true heroes! It's because of the money raised and donated by Hyundai Hope on Wheels that many of Childhood Cancer Community's children are survivors and were with us to leave their handprints. Thank you Hyundai for helping to provide HOPE for all of our children.
