September 2026 ~ Childhood Cancer Awareness Community Night
On September 20th, Childhood Cancer Community had the privilege of bringing our families together for our Childhood Cancer Awareness Community Night. September always brings a large attendance as we all come together in solidarity for our children who are currently battling cancer, have survived cancer, or in memory of those who have left us way too soon.
Since GOLD is the color representing the childhood cancer ribbon, and children affected by cancer, our evening contained touches of gold wherever possible. Thank you to our volunteers for making the room come alive and so warmly welcome all of our families as they arrived.
We would like to extend our sincerest thanks to Matt and Heidi Brown, owners of Estelles Eatery & Bar in Harmony, MN for serving our families a most delightful meal. This was their 7th year in service to our organization!
In addition, we would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the Sunday School students of Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin, MN, for donating our children/teen gift bags. The students all worked together to create these beautiful gifts for our Childhood Cancer Awareness Community Night. And boy, did they go GOLD!! What a generous donation.
Something that is very near and dear to Childhood Cancer Community are our families who have lost a child. Since our founding in 2019, we have had to say good-bye to 36 of these most precious children.
During the evening, we had the honor of displaying each of their photos on our Memorial Table. It is very sobering to honor and remember these children/teens, and when displayed together, it is heartbreaking to know this many beautiful children have had to leave us way too soon.
We will never forget these precious children, and will always do our best to help support the parents and families who live with this great loss every single day.
